CAMHRA Scholarships are designed to offer opportunities for people who would not otherwise study anthropology or ethnographic methods at postgraduate level due to existing time, financial, and social constraints. These Scholarships are also aimed to cultivate future generations of professionals, researchers, and practitioners working at the intersection of anthropology and mental health.

Our flagship MA Medical Anthropology and Mental Health incorporates diverse perspectives from social, cultural, medical, and psychological anthropology and enables students to conduct original dissertation research. The CAMHRA Master’s scholarships are also open to applicants to the MRes Social Anthropology who propose a research topic in the anthropology of mental health.

These are fee-only scholarships, running yearly until 2028/29, with the full-time equivalent of three overseas fees and four home fees places available each year.

We aim to provide one international scholarship with a living stipend for accommodation and living costs. For 2026/27, this ‘exceptional circumstances’ stipend is available to students who are resident in, or a citizen of, Afghanistan, Iran, or Iraq.

The deadline for applying to the CAMHRA Master’s Scholarship is 30 April 2026.

In case you missed it, here is a recording of the CAMHRA Master’s Scholarship Webinar held on Tuesday 31 March 2026 with members of the CAMHRA team and current CAMHRA Scholars.
